Extracurricular Dance Clubs
Bringing VBDance into your school

Our extracurricular dance clubs give children the opportunity to enjoy high quality dance training as part of their school week, with the added convenience of classes taking place straight after the school day.
Open to children from Reception upwards, our school clubs currently offer Ballet, Modern and combined Modern and Tap classes, depending on the school.
Classes are taught by members of the VBDance teaching team and follow the ISTD syllabus, giving children the opportunity to develop their dancing progressively as they move through the grades.
Whether it is their very first experience of dance or they have danced with us before, our aim is to create classes where children feel welcome, enjoy learning and have the opportunity to build their confidence and skills.
Continuing their VBDance journey
We find that many of our youngest VBDancers who start with us in our Under 5s programme go on to join one of our extracurricular clubs when they start Reception, where their new school offers one.
It is a lovely way for them to continue dancing with VBDance as they make that big transition into school.
For children moving on to schools where we do not currently run an extracurricular club, there is a natural progression into our wider programme of VBDance classes across our local venues.
And, of course, children can join our school clubs without having danced with us before. They are a brilliant introduction to VBDance and, for many children, the beginning of a much longer dancing journey with us.
More than a weekly dance club
Although our extracurricular clubs take place within school, children are very much part of the wider VBDance community.
Alongside their weekly classes, dancers may be offered opportunities to take part in VBDance showcases, performances and other events, giving them the chance to experience performing outside of their usual school environment.
There is no expectation that children have to perform or take examinations in order to enjoy their classes with us.
ISTD Dance Examinations
Children attending our extracurricular clubs work through the relevant ISTD syllabus as part of their weekly classes.
Where a dancer is particularly keen to work towards an examination, or their teacher feels they may be ready to do so, we will contact their family to discuss the opportunity.
In preparation for an examination, dancers will also need to attend additional classes at one of our external VBDance venues in the lead up to their exam. This allows our teaching team to make sure that all syllabus work is secure and refined and, most importantly, that each dancer feels confident and properly prepared before entering.
Examinations are always optional and children can continue progressing through and enjoying their weekly school dance club without taking an exam.
Convenient for families. Brilliant fun for children.
One of the lovely things about our extracurricular clubs is just how easily dance can become part of the school week.
There is no additional journey to another venue after school and no need to squeeze another activity into an already busy evening. Children can finish their school day and head straight into their VBDance class with their friends.
Our school clubs are extremely popular and places are available subject to availability.
Our current school clubs
We currently run extracurricular VBDance clubs at Birchwood Grove Primary School and Burgess Hill Girls, with Ballet, Modern and combined Modern and Tap classes available across our school programme.
