At VBDance, we are continually evolving our practice to better support all of our students and families. We believe that every dancer deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated, whatever their individual needs may be.

That’s why Team VB are stepping up…

We’re thrilled to be taking part in a specialist training session designed specifically for dance teachers and dance school owners, exploring diverse learning styles and individual needs to help create inclusive, supportive spaces. It is a responsibility we take very seriously.

The three-hour session, taking place this May, is being created and delivered by three passionate facilitators: Victoria Bremner, Claire Christou, and Sophie Scott-Harman, who each bring personal experience and professional expertise in the fields of dance education, inclusive teaching, neurodiversity, and family life.

This training is a chance for Team VB to deepen our understanding and reflect on how we can continue to make our classes as inclusive and welcoming as possible. Because supporting our dancers also means supporting their families, and as teachers, there’s always more to learn. That’s the beauty of our profession.

We recently received this lovely feedback:
“Great dance school. We tried a few but found VB fantastic with children with all different needs. I now have both my daughters dancing here and they both love it.”

It’s a privilege to receive comments like this, but we also know the job is never finished. Inclusion is an ongoing journey, and we’re proud to be actively learning and growing as a team to ensure our dancers continue to thrive.

If you are a dance school and would like to get on board with this too, do reach out and drop us a message. We’d love to collaborate and share more with you about future training opportunities.

Victoria Bremner – BA (Hons), DDE, Affiliate Teacher of The Royal Ballet School (ATAP)
Victoria is the Director of VBDance and experienced dance teacher with 20 years of experience in the industry. Victoria’s understanding of inclusion is informed not only by her work in dance education, but also by her lived experience as a parent navigating diverse needs. Victoria is deeply passionate about creating accessible and inclusive dance opportunities for all young people, especially those who may face additional barriers to participation. Her mission is not only to support students, but also to empower dance teachers, families, and fellow dance school owners to feel confident in creating nurturing, adaptable environments where everyone can thrive.

Claire Christou – BA Hons, DDE, LIDTA
Claire has been dancing since the age of 2, born in South Africa and moving to the UK at 10. Dancing has always been a massive part of her life and education, but having gained a degree in dance, she struggled with her place in the dance world, as she wasn’t sure a performance path was for her. She came back to dance at 28, and discovered her passion for teaching and creating a dance space for all bodies. With 15 years of experience, working with dancers of all ages (her oldest client is currently 102!) she is intent on allowing everyone she works with to discover or rediscover the benefits of dance. She is Lead Artist for the Dance Company at Bloomin Arts, and has worked with NYB and Parable Dance on their Ballet All In programme. She teaches seated dance for dementia patients around East Sussex and has been involved in research around the benefits of dance for people with dementia. She is currently on the steering group for Hungry2Move, a project looking at the effects of body image pressure on pre vocational and vocational dance students. This is alongside helping to found and teaching at a dance studio for adults in Eastbourne that has run for 10 years and is currently offering 23 classes across the week creating an incredible, supportive community welcoming adults of all abilities; teaching young dancers at RAPA; lecturing at Performers College, Brighton and a role as Artistic Director for South Coast Ballet, a youth performance project in the South East. She is passionate about creating a space in which all dancers can flourish, all benefiting from the power of dance to create communities, heal bodies, grow minds and feed souls.

Sophie Scott-Harman – BSc Hons, PGDip
Sophie is an autistic, autism and learning disability specialist. She danced throughout her youth, before moving to the aerial circus arts as an adult, initially as a student but soon becoming an instructor. Sophie is a director and lead aerial instructor of Sweet Circus, a not for profit community circus group, specialising in engaging those who might not feel they fit in to other artistic exercise spaces. She specalises in working with neurodivergent children and hypermobile humans of all ages. Sophie is passionate about inclusive practice and working from a strengths based perspective, adapting her teaching to the student, be they child or adult, so they can experience success. Sophie is able to offer support and guidance on strategies to get the best from every student.
