May/June News

Dear Parents and Carers,
Our motto for these last couple of months has been ‘keep dancing’ and we have been overwhelmed with the positive response from so many of our VBDance students and parents. We continue looking at different ways to get our VBDancers up and moving and have some exciting things planned – from a special Father’s Day event, to a variety of workshops for all ages!

Summer 2020 Online Class Term Dates
Monday 27th April – Saturday 25th July
No classes Monday 25 th May – Saturday 30th May due to Half Term

Zoom Class- How-To
We have put together a quick ‘Zoom: How-To’ on our website that breaks down important steps to help our faculty teach as effectively as possible whilst keeping everyone safe online. It includes tips such as making sure your zoom username
is your child’s name in order for the teacher to identify everyone in the class prior to login, angling your camera effectively and other tips. It is a quick read and something everyone should find useful.

Attendance
We have been really happy with the attendance of our online classes. It has been a challenging time for everyone including the children and we understand that sometimes things crop up that mean attending class may not be possible. If at all possible, we would appreciate a quick email letting us know if your child won’t be able to make it so we can alert the teacher beforehand.

If your child has recently returned to school and you are having  difficulty getting online in time for class, do get in touch and we will try our hardest to find you an alternative class time.

Uniform
We have made the move to online orders for the majority of our Dancewear since the closing of G Lois Dancewear in Burgess Hill and also while we are away from our venues, unable to operate a physical store for you. To make an online order you need to visit the following link here . Alternatively you can visit the uniform page on the website. We have a few more items to add so do keep checking if you cannot find what you are looking for.

Our custom made Modern/Tap leotards and ballet leotards are now manufactured by Rachel Perry. Contact her directly to place your order by email to rachel@rachelperrycostume.co.uk If students have outgrown their current modern/ tap catsuit or leotard and you are waiting for a replacement while classes are running online then students may wear either their ballet leotard or any other leotard that does fit. If all leotards are outgrown then a plain, form fitting top is acceptable during lockdown and whilst new uniform is unavailable. (But no crop tops please).

Please make sure hair is neat and presentable for all classes and always in a bun for ballet (with the exception for pre school ballet).

Workshops – A Treat on Us!
We have been working very hard over at VBDance HQ to come up with ways of keeping our students dancing. As a treat for the students and also to say a massive thank you to our parents for the incredible support in these challenging times,  we offered some extra workshops starting off with 3 FREE half term workshops.  The children had a fantastic time, well done to all! We look forward to sharing details with you of our next block of workshops planned for the end of June.

Father’s Day Dance Along – Sunday 21st June
We love how our online classes have given some of our VBDance parents the
opportunity to join in with their little one’s dance classes and we know the
children have enjoyed it too!

In order to celebrate Father’s Day we will be running a special Infants and Junior Ballet Class on Sunday 21st June at 10.30-10.50 where all students get to invite either their Dad or another loved one to participate in the fun. Ballet outfits are encouraged for all ages and pictures or videos capturing this special moment will be gratefully received! We will be in touch with details of how to sign up for this event soon!

1-1 Online Tutorials
We are just getting ready to launch details of our new online 1-1 tutorials for the VBDancers. This will be a wonderful complement to our regular Zoom classes as VBDancers will get the undivided attention of our wonderful teachers allowing for increased feedback, whilst also giving the student a chance to work on any specific areas they would like further guidance with and/or we feel they would benefit from. Keep an eye on the website and Facebook page as bookings will open on Monday for a limited number of tutorial slots on a first come first served basis.

If your child has been unable to join us for online classes so far, and would now like to have a trial, do get in touch and we will be more than happy to welcome them along for an online session.

Thank you!
We want to say one more time… THANK YOU to everyone for their continued support and loyalty.

We know our VBDance family is something extra special but could never have imagined the positive response to our online classes along with the kind words of encouragement. We really hope you enjoy the different events we have been coming up with and can’t wait until we will get back into the studio together again! Do keep in touch with us via our Facebook Page, Instagram and Twitter. We love hearing from our dancers, seeing and sharing the photos you have been sending in too.

With Best Wishes
Victoria and Team VBDance
