November/December News

What a wonderful term we have been having at VBDance so far! All of the VBDancers have been working very hard in class which has been so exciting to see. We have welcomed lots of new students to the school too, as well as running events such as World Ballet Day, our incredibly popular Halloween Workshop, and also a trip to see 42nd Street for some our tappers at the cinema. There are no signs of slowing down either as we near the end of 2019.

Please continue to read down below for useful information on upcoming events, activities and news concerning classes for the rest of this term.

Family and friends are invited to come along and observe classes  Monday 9th December – Saturday 14th December. (Please note Burgess Hill Girls Monday and Tuesday clubs will hold open classes on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd December).

Christmas Workshop
Following the success of our sold out Halloween Workshop last half term, get ready to join us for our fantastically festive dance activities with Victoria, Laura and Tabitha taking place on Monday 23rd December at Birchwood Grove CP School and Woodlands Meed College. We absolutely cannot wait to continue the dancing fun inspired by the new Frozen 2 movie for our younger dancers and also The Nutcracker for our older attendees. (Not to mention it will also give Mums and Dads a chance to do a last minute Christmas shop dash!) Tickets have almost sold out. Do visit VBDance.com to book online. Pre School/Reception, Year 1-Year 4 and Year 4-Year 6 groups running.

Spring Term 2020 Invoices
We are getting ready to start sending out invoices for the Spring Term with payments due by the final day of term Saturday 14th December. We are also starting to book in trials for the January Term so if there are any classes your child is interested in trying, then please let us know and (space permitting) we will get them booked in! Please kindly note that prompt payment by the due date stated is the only method for securing a place in class.  Unconfirmed places will automatically be offered to children on the waiting list after the 14th December.

IMPORTANT: The timetable will change for some classes week commencing Monday 10th February to accommodate rehearsals for the school show. All VBDancers 3 years and over will be invited to participate. The show is compulsory for all children in Year 1 and above. Please visit the Spring timetable link at VBDance.com (scroll down to the timetable at the bottom of the page) to check for any time changes. If you are not sure, please email the office and we will be more than happy to help.

As always, up to date term dates can be found on our website here.

Uniform Reminder
We wanted to politely remind everyone that they should be in our set uniform by now (unless still completing trials). Please also note that Ballet belts will be compulsory for all students in Grade 1 and above from January onwards. You can find a detailed list of everything you will need for each genre and grade on our website but please feel free to ask your teacher or pop us an e-mail if you have a question. Everything is available to purchase from G Lois Dancewear which is open Tuesday – Friday 2pm – 5pm in Burgess Hill at 16A, Cyprus Road, Burgess Hill, RH15 8DX.

Name Uniform
As you can imagine, if uniform is not named it can be extremely challenging to reunite with its owner as we have hundreds of students at the school wearing identical outfits. Please make sure the entire uniform is named, including ballet cardigans as these are often removed during class time once the dancer warms up.

Second-Hand Uniform
We are very pleased to offer parents a second-hand uniform shop that takes place at Birchwood Grove School, every Friday, starting straight after school until 4.30pm. Obviously, it depends on what has been donated as to whether we will have what is needed, but it is always worth popping along to see if we have anything suitable or sending an email to find out. Second-hand donations are also always very appreciated at our second-hand uniform shop, anything from leotards and ballet skirts to used tap shoes. Whilst it gives other’s the chance to purchase uniform for a discounted price, it also gets the older uniform out of the house instead of causing clutter!

Happy Socks for the Homeless
Happy Socks is a wonderful appeal that seeks to give a small gesture of hope and kindness to the homeless in local areas, especially important as the days get colder and conditions become harder outside.

Miss Bremner is going to be putting together some Happy Socks over the next month or so and if any of our students or VBDance families and friends would also like to do the same and/or donate gifts to put inside, then do bring them along to classes on Thursday’s and Saturday’s.

How to take part…

  1. Buy a pair of adult sized socks.
  2. Put one sock inside the other.
  3. Fill with small gifts such as combs, gloves, wooly hats, toothbrush & toothpaste, sweet treats etc.

Please click on the link for more information here.

We wish all of our dancers, families and VBDance friends an enjoyable final few weeks of term.

With Best Wishes
Victoria and Team VBDance
