March News

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the Easter Holidays I wanted to touch base with everyone and send out some important information to note down. We have some exciting things coming up at VBDance, from exams to showcases so please read through to the end to make sure you know all important upcoming dates (sorry it’s a bit of a long one!)

VBDance Show 2020

We are so happy that we have managed to reschedule our VBDance School Show for 2020 at The Hawth Theatre in Crawley. Our technical rehearsal is Friday 15th May and Matinee and Evening performances will take place on Saturday 16th May 2020 so please save these dates as we know it will be a wonderful experience for everyone involved.

As always, help from parents is invaluable when it comes to chaperoning, costumes and backstage help, so if you would like to kindly offer your services please let us know as it is greatly appreciated. We wouldn’t be able to run the show without you all!

VBDance Showcase 2019

Due to us delaying our big School Show until next year, we have organised some smaller showcases taking place at Burgess Hill Girls during the summer term to give friends and family the opportunity to watch our students perform. Details will follow but for now please add these dates to your diaries.

Pre School ‘Showcase’ at Burgess Hill Girls – Saturday 25th May

Lower School ‘Showcase’ – Sunday 26th May

Upper School ‘Showcase’ – Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July

Open Week
Family and friends are invited to watch classes week commencing Monday 1st April for friends and family to come and see the students’ progress. It is a great opportunity to come and offer your support and is always exciting for the children to have an audience.

Summer Term Enrolment
Invoices will be sent out this week and are due for payment by Saturday 6th April. After this date, any unconfirmed places will be offered to students on our waiting lists. Please note, almost all of our Pre School and Infant classes are at capacity and waiting lists for these classes are in operation. If you wish to add more classes to your schedule please contact the office as soon as possible.

ISTD Examinations
Ballet Exams – Sunday 28th April
Modern, Tap and Ballet Exams – 15th & 16th June
Modern and Tap Exams – Friday 12th July

We have several exam sessions coming up over the next few months. If your child has been asked to participate in an exam then you will be contacted separately with further details. As always, if your child has signed up to do an exam in this session, please make sure you keep up your attendance for all lessons and exam coaching, as these last few lessons are where we can focus on the little details and really polish up their technique and performance. We have been so proud of everyone’s hard work so far and can only ask for their enthusiasm and dedication to continue.

Also, please make sure you have your uniform for the day sorted- we don’t want anyone having to do a last-minute dash!

If you would like to read more about the exams ‘process’ at VBDance then the following link here will provide you with some very useful information.

Just a reminder that once enrolled at the school, we do require students to wear our set uniform for every class which is detailed on our website here .

We wanted to put out a reminder of what our set uniform is for our Girl and Boy Pre Schoolers and to ask everyone to please make sure they are wearing the correct thing.

Girls: Red cherry leotard and matching cherry chiffon skirt, pink ankle socks, pink ballet shoes with elastics, hair styled in a classical ballet bun. Cardigan (optional)
Boys: White leotard, white t shirt OR VBDance t-shirt, navy shorts, white ankle socks and white or black ballet shoes with elastics

It can all be purchased from G Lois Dancewear in Burgess Hill. If you have any questions please let us know and we will be happy to help.

Having just mentioned our upcoming open week and exams, I wanted to stress the importance of regular attendance. I know a lot of schools have different trips and events that crop up each term, so if this is the case it would be great to have a quick email so we can let the teacher know beforehand. If there are several children missing then we sometimes alter our lesson plans to avoid people missing out so it really is useful. Thank you so much to everyone who notifies us of their child’s absence.

However, if it is possible for your child to attend, please ensure they do. It not only makes sure they are getting the best out of their classes, but we do take their attendance into consideration when planning for exams as it isn’t fair to enter a child who is under prepared.

Half Term Workshop
Finally, we wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who attended our fantastic Mary Poppins Workshop during Half Term. We all had an amazing time and were impressed with all the students that participated.

We are just finalising details of our Summer Club this year, which will be a little different to previous years but lots and lots of fun. Pencil 5th – 9th August into your diary if you know a young dancer who would like to attend and more details will be with you soon… watch this space!

Finally a huge thank you to all of our VBDancers, families and friends who have recommended our classes recently. We really appreciate your support. Wishing you all a wonderful Easter break and we look forward to a fun filled term this Summer!

Best wishes
