Local Burgess Hill dance school, VBDance, are ecstatic to be announced as a finalist in the Dance School of the Year Awards for a second year in a row. Now in its 6th year, this nationwide competition was founded by Anne Walker MBE to celebrate the achievements of theatre dance schools, who so often do not receive the recognition they deserve. Judges for this years competition were Brenda Last OBE (The Royal Ballet School) and Terry Etheridge, both of whom have had illustrious careers in the dance industry as dancers, teachers and choreographers.
Out of the thousands of eligible dance schools across the UK, VBDance is 1 of only 32 schools selected by the judges to become a finalist. Started in 2006 with just 10 children by the Principal Victoria Bremner, VBDance has flourished over the last 12 years to now provide weekly dance classes to nearly 400 pupils. VBDance are dedicated to providing the highest quality training to students from as young as 2, up to 18 years of age. To be recognised in such a prestigious event is wonderful as it confirms that the school’s aim of creating dance excellence is being achieved. Priding itself not only in its high quality training, but also its family atmosphere and warm approach to all students, this recognition has created a real buzz around the school in anticipation of the result.
Proud to be a member of the ISTD and running classes in Ballet, Modern, Tap,Jazz, Street and Progressing Ballet Technique, this is not the first cause for celebration this year. With the assistance of a team of professionally qualified teachers, VBDance students have celebrated continued success in ISTD examinations, helping the school retain its 100% pass rate. Students have also been chosen to perform in various local shows and pantomimes, giving them the chance to demonstrate their dance training in professional productions.
VBDance are excited to join the other dance teachers and their staff as well as the long-term supporter of these Awards-Angela Rippon CBE- when the winners are announced at the Awards Ceremony later this month.
