Dust off those dancing shoes… we are back!

We are really looking forward to returning to classes next week and seeing all of the VBDancers as well as welcoming lots of new students too. We have a bumper newsletter below, so please take a moment to sit down and read through carefully. There are term date and timetable reminders at the bottom of this newsletter too. If you can’t find the information you are looking for in the newsletter or on the website, please email the school office hello@vbdance.com and we will be happy to help.

Emergency Contact Details and Medical Conditions
In the email accompanying your invoice this Summer you were sent an invitation to login to the VBDance Parents Portal. If you have not done so already it is very important you update the required details in the link. The contact details provided will be used to get in touch with you in the event of an emergency and/or class alteration etc. If your child has a medical condition/injury/allergy or other information which our teachers should be aware of, it is essential that parents update us and this should be done via the portal.

Student Success
You may have seen on our Facebook Page facebook.com/VBDanceOfficial/  news of recent successes at thevbdance-com dance school including another 100% pass rate for ISTD examinations during our Summer sessions. We were also pleased to hear from several VBDancers celebrating their GCSE and A-Level results over the Summer.  In other news, VBDancer Lydia has been invited to join the senior team in The Capitol Theatre’s professional production of Aladdin this Christmas and VBDancer Charlotte has just started rehearsals for Southern Youth Ballet’s production of The Tales of Beatrix Potter.  Congratulations to you all and thank you for sharing your news with us!

Autumn Term Fees – Outstanding Payments
Thank you to everyone who has confirmed places for this term and sent payment promptly to secure classes, it is much appreciated.

Unfortunately, we do not have the time and resources to chase fees, and therefore have made the decision to remove any child from our Main School class lists who’s fees still remain outstanding. This will result in your son or daughter not being able to attend lessons at VBDance. If you still wish for your son or daughter to dance with us and have not yet sent payment, you will need to get in touch with the school office urgently on 07841 922 631 or admin@vbdance.com to re-check availability. Please do not assume a space will be available for your son or daughter if fees are still outstanding. Many places have now been allocated to children on our waiting lists.

Uniform
For details of our school uniform please check the link here. Don’t forget if your daughter/son has recently passed an exam you must check if the uniform will change for the next level up. G Lois Dancewear is our official uniform supplier and will know what you need. We also have a second hand shop open on Fridays after school at Birchwood Grove.

HairScreen Shot 2015-02-12 at 10.41.51 – Hair must be in a classical bun for all ballet classes on Thursdays and Saturdays and for Friday Associate Ballet. If your child dances straight after school at Birchwood Grove, Manor Field or Burgess Hill Girls, please provide a brush, hair elastics and clips and we will tie hair into a pony tail for the younger students.

Older students are encouraged to learn how to do their hair themselves as this plays a part in learning the discipline of preparing for ballet and taking responsibility for presentation. This is something that dancers learn to feel proud of because it plays such a huge part in understanding ballet discipline. Hair tied in a classical bun allows a dancer to feel the length properly in the back of the neck, spot properly when turning and allows the teacher to see the classical lines the dancer is creating and correct appropriately.

Hair Modern Theatre, Tap & Jazz
Must be tied back neatly for these classes too. A ponytail with fringes and wisps off of the face. If your daughter has long hair, a ponytail is not sufficient as this flicks into the face when turning. A bun in this instance is recommended.
