December News 2015

The Autumn term has almost come to an end and I do hope the VBDancers have enjoyed their classes. Everyone has been working very hard and once again it has been a busy term with over 200 pupils dancing with us every week at venues across Burgess Hill. Along with our regular timetable of classes, we also had a fantastic Autumn half term Musical Theatre workshop, festival success and two of our dancers (Charlotte Deamer and Lydia Stewart-Parsons) have been rehearsing the Nutcracker with Southern Youth Ballet and also Pantomime with the Capitol Theatre, Horsham. Well done to all for some great work!

Please take some time to read our latest newsletter which has lots of important information regarding the end of this term and classes in the New Year.

Miss Bremner

Thank you so much to Miss Sophie, Miss Cara, Miss Francesca and Miss Jade for all of their extra hard work while I have been away on maternity leave. I have enjoyed visiting classes, and can see the VBDancers have been working very hard. I am looking forward to returning to classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as well as running exam and festival coaching from January. I also plan to re introduce our Associate classes from March. Miss Cara and Miss Francesca will be joining Miss Sophie and I on a permanent basis at the school and the new timetable for January 2016 is now available to view on the website.

Goodbye Miss Jade
We shall be saying farewell to Miss Jade at the end of this term and will miss her very much. We are so grateful for the wonderful classes she has taught over the past two years and I am sure you will join me in wishing her the very best of luck with her teaching career and own dance school in Hastings.

December End of Term Open Classes
Open classes will take place during the normal class times on Monday 7th December – Thursday 10th December, Saturday 12th December and Friday 18th December. This applies to all venues. Please do come along to watch the students in action. Family and friends welcome!

*Classes on Wednesday 9th December will start 10 minutes later than normal to allow for the room changeover and to get chairs out for anyone who would like to watch. Ballet club for Manor Field pupils will start at the normal time straight after school.

Wednesday Classes from January
I understand parking is rather busy on Wednesday afternoons at Manor Field School. From January, Modern, Tap and Jazz classes will start 10 minutes later than normal to allow extra time for parents to make it through the school run and have time to park and get to the building. I hope this makes things easier.

ISTD Examinations
ISTD exams will be taking place during the Spring and Summer term next year. Parents of students who we feel are ready to take an exam will be receiving an email at the end of this term with details for the Spring session including extra coaching classes.

Saturdays
We have received a wonderful response to our Saturday morning classes which started this term. In addition to our Beginners Ballet (infants) and Pre School Ballet, we will be adding a further Pre School session in the New Year. If your child would like to join us for a taster class in January please do get in touch asap.

Street Dance
Our Year 1 – Year 4 Street and Funky Jazz Dance class will continue to run in the New Year at Birchwood Grove and Miss Cara will be taking over these sessions from Miss Sophie. Sadly, we will not be running any further Street classes for students in Year 5 and above for the rest of this academic year.

Invoices
Invoices for the Spring term will be sent via email and will be due for payment by
Thursday 31st December 2015.

Please note: If we have not received confirmation of your child’s intention to continue with us in the New Year by Thursday 31st December at the latest, the place will be offered to those on our waiting lists.
There are waiting lists in operation for the majority of our Ballet and Modern classes.

VBDance SHOW
We are delighted to (finally) be able to announce dates for our 10th Anniversary Gala. Apologies once again for the delay! Building works due to take place at our usual show venue were causing a few issues with our original booking. We were offered some alternative dates, which clashed with school holidays and would have resulted in many of the VBDancers being unable to participate. For this reason, the show has been postponed so that it can take place during term time and at a larger and more local venue. I am therefore delighted to announce the VBDance show will be taking place at the Hawth Theatre, Crawley. Please put the following dates in your diary now. All VBDancers with the exception of our pre school pupils will be performing.

Technical Rehearsal
@ Hawth Theatre, Crawley Friday 24th March 2017

Matinee and Evening Performance
@ Hawth Theatre, Crawley Saturday 25th March 2017

Dress Rehearsal
Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th March 2017 venue tbc

Summer Event 2016
On Saturday 2nd July 2016 we shall be holding a Summer celebration of achievement at the Kings Centre, Burgess Hill and would like to invite the VBDancers to participate. This will include a performance of several pieces of group choreography, festival dances, exam and class work. We are also organising a Choreographic competition for any VBDancers who would like to create their own dance works and perform in front of an audience and judges! This will be a lovely way to celebrate the end of the academic year and the VBDancers achievements.

Class Assistants
A big thank you to VBDancers Molly Laybourn, Georgina Lea and Lydia Stewart-Parsons who have assisted Miss Sophie and Miss Cara with classes this term. We are very grateful for your hard work and committment.

Spring Term Dates
A reminder of our Spring term dates can be found here.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful festive season and happy new year and we look forward to seeing the VBDancers return to classes in January.

Best Wishes
Victoria Bremner
