May News 2015

What a great start to the Summer term we have had, with everyone working very hard in class as usual. I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to new faces, both pupils and staff at the school this term.

During the Easter holidays we had an extremely busy ISTD exam session (the third of this academic year already) and are currently waiting for results. As soon as these are received, emails will be sent. Thank you to everyone for working so hard and your cooperation in ensuring candidates attended extra rehearsals.

Another exam session is booked for Saturday 18th July in Burgess Hill (Modern Theatre, Jazz and Tap) and pupils will be notified shortly if they are to be entered.

Please may I remind pupils that they should be in the correct uniform for all dance classes.
Street dancers (Infants, Juniors and Boys) must wear their VBDance Street t-shirt for all classes. These are available online via the following link: https://vbdance.com/parents/uniform/

Some of our pupils have now moved up from Grade 1 to Grade 2 Ballet and are encouraged to wear the new Lilac colour for Grade 2 level ballet. Grade 5 ballet pupils should wear navy for class. Pre Primary and Primary Ballet pupils must wear their ballet skirts and leotards with ballet socks or ballet tights (please no bare feet in ballet shoes).

All VBDancers must be in the correct leotard/catsuit for their Modern classes and please ensure black tap socks are worn under tap shoes (no bare feet please).

Ballet Hair
With tScreen Shot 2015-05-01 at 13.46.32he exception of ballet classes which run straight after school (3:20 – 4:00) all other classes are expected to have their hair in a neat bun for all sessions. Please kindly encourage your child to make sure their hair is neat for all classes. If your child has a ballet class straight after school, please put some spare hair elastics in their bag so hair can be tied up for class.

Maternity Leave
As you will be aware, Miss Bremner is pregnant with a due date fast approaching this month! Although she will not be teaching this term, she will still be popping into classes to see what everyone is getting up to. During this time, please continue to use the VBDance email address admin@vbdance.com should you have any queries. The number to call remains the same and is 07841 922 631. Please only send text messages to notify us of absences or an emergency. As always, general queries sent via text message will not receive a response. It is best to email or call instead.

We are delighted to welcome to the VBDance team Miss Cara and Miss Francesca who will be covering classes along with Miss Sophie and Miss Jade. They have settled in nicely to their classes and I have heard some lovely feedback from the pupils regarding their lessons. You can find out more about the VBDance team here https://vbdance.com/about/team/

Website
A great deal of time and effort is put into the website vbdance.com to keep everyone updated with information including term dates, timetables and events. Please check this regularly to answer any general questions you may have. We also have the VBDance Facebook page  which is a useful source of information.

Janet Cram Competition
Good luck wishes to our our senior girls Jessica Baker, Isobelle Deamer, Lydia Stewart-Parsons and Lauren Wickens who are competing at the ISTD Janet Cram Regional Heats this Sunday. A prestigious competition and a first for our VBDancers to enter. As well as demonstrating ISTD Modern Theatre set work, they will have to perform a solo and we wish the girls the best of luck!

GCSE / AS Level / A Level Exams
Finally, more good luck wishes to our senior girls who have lots of school exams coming up this term. Your VBDance teachers are impressed with your discipline and how you remain dedicated to your dancing during this busy time. We are thinking of you 🙂
