It certainly has been a busy start to the Spring term here at VBDance and we do hope the VBDancers have been enjoying their dance classes as much as we have teaching them!
The term started with a delightful set of ISTD Modern Theatre, Jazz and Imperial Classical Ballet examination results. Once again a 100% pass rate with all pupils being awarded either a Merit or Distinction which is a wonderful achievement. Certificates, medals and reports should have been handed out in class by the end of this week. Congratulations to all and thank you to VBDance parents for your support in ensuring children attend all of their classes and to VBDance teachers for your inspiration and expertise.
As most of you will now know, Miss Bremner is pregnant and along with her husband Tom, is very much looking forward to introducing a new addition to the family in May! With this in mind, we are delighted to welcome to the team Miss Cara and Miss Francesca who will be gradually taking over classes from after February half term. Both Miss Cara and Miss Francesca are qualified, experienced ISTD teachers and also fantastic dancers! Miss Bremner is confident that along with Miss Sophie and Miss Jade the VBDancers will be in very competent hands and will look forward to seeing what the pupils achieve while she is on maternity leave. Miss Bremner will be taking a break from teaching her classes for the Summer term and aims to return at the end of the Autumn term. You will still be able to reach the VBDance office as normal via email and phone should you have any queries. Miss Bremner is looking forward to visiting classes in action over the Summer.
ISTD Exams Spring and Summer Sessions 2015
The next ISTD Ballet exams are taking place Sunday 12th April at London Meed School, Burgess Hill and parents of selected pupils should have received an email with details. ISTD Modern and Tap exams are booked to take place Saturday 18th July (venue tbc) and parents will receive information regarding the summer session at the start of the new term.
Thank you very much for your understanding and patience regarding disruption to the timetable over the past week due to Miss Bremner being unwell and absent from classes. Class credit and/or additional classes have been timetabled for the end of the Spring term and parents will be emailed next week with details.
VBDance teachers would be very grateful if pupils arrive to class on time, ready to dance and are collected from their lesson promptly. We do appreciate that from time to time, things do not go according to plan, but we are noticing that several pupils are regularly missing the first 5-10 minutes of their class which is distracting for the rest of the pupils already in the lesson. For health and safety reasons, teachers reserve the right to ask a pupil to observe the lesson if they are late and have missed important warm up exercises.
Pupils should be in the correct uniform for all dance classes. In particular, please ensure children wear either ballet socks or tights under their ballet shoes and that strings are tied and tucked in. Please no bare feet under ballet shoes. Modern and Tap pupils must be in the correct colour catsuit for their class and Street Dancers should be wearing the VBDance t-shirt. A reminder of our school uniform can be found by clicking on the link here: https://vbdance.com/parents/uniform/
All ballet dancers who do not have classes following straight on from the end of the school day at 3:15 must have their hair neatly groomed for class in a secure bun. Please may we remind seniors that floppy fringes, and loose, high fashion buns are not appropriate for class.
Thank you to everyone who supports and follows the VBDance school rules.
